Gothenburg Tech Week x Chalmers Hackathon
On the 25th and 26th of September, SEM students from all 3 Bachelor years participated in the Gothenburg Tech Week x Chalmers hackathon hosted by the Chalmers Entrepreneurship Society (CES), Chalmers AI Society (CAIS) and Gothenburg Tech Week. Teams could choose from a variety of intriguing tracks such as NVIDIA, SKF, AmbiDex, SAAB and an open track focused on healthcare. The challenge was to apply AI agents in different industries. We are proud to say that each track was tackled by at least one SEM team!
On Friday, industry representatives presented their topics, what abstract and challenging problem(s) the participants should focus on solving. Afterwards, groups could start thinking of innovational ideas, and build their prototypes.

The following day, teams strived to complete their product, and honed their pitches through a provided pitch crash course by professional entrepreneurs. After preparing live demos, speech, and a finalised MVP (or not), the groups pitched their idea and showcased their demo to their respective tracks’ judges. All groups created inventive and effective solutions to a wide variety of problems.
After the presentations, winners of each track were announced and were given an opportunity to pitch to all present participants. In the end, a Q&A session was hosted for everyone to participate in.
Hack Chalmers Hackathon
A week after, on October 4th, another hackathon took place at Chalmers, named Hack Chalmers. Participants had less than 24-hours to brainstorm, develop and pitch an idea. While it was a small-scale event, at least 2 SEM student teams were present among the participants, from both the first and second year.

The hackathon had up to 50 participants with 34 members pitching 10 different projects. What was different and unique about this hackathon was that there was no specific theme; all it had to be was ‘cool’ which gave a large space for people to (vibe) code any project from any field. Projects that were pitched ranged from travel planning to medical documentation, all equally and innovative.
Our SEM students (including even SKIP’s board members) even won 2nd place with Booooth - an interactive, web-based photo booth experience combined with a shared digital map that allows users to take pictures in a photo strip style with filters and customised designs, download them and/or share with friends.

Read more and find the projects at the hackathon’s website.
We hope that everyone involved had a pleasant and valuable learning experience during these two hackathons, congrats to Booooth team, and we thank the organisers for having our students.
